Samsung is making efforts to regain consumer trust by prioritizing the release of One UI 8 after facing significant backlash from Galaxy smartphone users regarding the One UI 7 update. The company has been criticized for delays in distributing One UI 7, leading to disappointment among users who expect timely updates from a manufacturer known for its prompt Android updates, much like Google’s Pixel devices.
As Google wraps up the rollout of Android 16 for its Pixel line, Samsung has yet to launch One UI 7, which is based on Android 15. The release is slated for April 7 and will be available for the Galaxy S24, Galaxy Z Fold6, and Z Flip6 series, with other devices set to receive the update in subsequent phases.
The introduction of One UI 8 is crucial for Samsung as it aims to restore customer trust. Reports from SamMobile indicate that the company might introduce the Galaxy Z Flip7 and Galaxy Z Fold7 with One UI 8, which will be based on Android 16, directly from the factory. If this is confirmed, users could see a faster rollout of One UI 8 compared to the previous version.
The anticipated launch period for the Galaxy Z Flip7 and Z Fold7 is expected around June or July, shortly after Google unveils the stable version of Android 16 at the I/O 2025 event, scheduled for May 20-21.
Regarding a potential beta program for One UI 8, details remain uncertain, but the Galaxy S25 series may be among the first to receive this beta version.
In terms of design, the Galaxy Z Flip7 is expected to feature a borderless screen, drawing inspiration from the Moto Razr Ultra line. Additionally, a more budget-friendly Galaxy Z Flip7 FE version is anticipated to adopt a clamshell design. The Galaxy Z Fold7 is likely to retain a design similar to that of the Galaxy Z Fold6 but with a thinner profile and a larger display.
