Intel has introduced its new Arrow Lake AI chip tailored for gaming laptops during a recent event in the USA. According to Engadget, this launch features the Core Ultra 200H and 200HX processor chip lines, specifically designed for high-performance thin and light laptops as well as gaming devices.
The Core Ultra 200H chip line, exemplified by the Core Ultra 9 285H, is equipped with 16 cores, which include 6 performance cores, 8 efficiency cores, and 2 additional power-saving cores, achieving a maximum clock speed of up to 5.4 GHz. Notably, this model also integrates 8 Intel Arc GPU cores, enhancing its graphical capabilities.
In contrast, the Core Ultra 200HX line is aimed at delivering advanced performance for gaming and demanding tasks. The flagship Core Ultra 9 285HX version boasts a total of 24 cores (8 performance cores and 16 efficiency cores) and can reach a maximum clock speed of 5.5 GHz. Although it features only 4 Intel GPU cores, this line is designed to operate seamlessly with discrete graphics cards from NVIDIA or AMD, ensuring an exceptional gaming experience on laptops.
Intel has announced that devices utilizing the Core Ultra 200H and 200HX chips are expected to be available in the first quarter of 2025, coinciding with the release of desktop models powered by the Core Ultra 200S chips.
This launch is seen as Intel’s strategic move to compete with rivals like AMD while reinforcing its leadership position in the processor chip technology sector.
